The Solution
Unveiling the Final Solution
The solution consisted of 3 main features
AI Image Quality Checker
AI scans all your images assigning a quality score, and provides recommendations for improvement if necessary.
AI Safe Search Checker
Ensures the safety of your images through AI Analysis, including insights from Google's SafeSearch.
AI Auto Tags and Adds Alt Text to Images
AI automatically tags your images and generates alt text based on their content to ensure ADA compliance.
Project Overview
Designing a Centralized Cloud with AI and Optimized Images
As a product design lead, I led Milestone’s first product that centralizes assets, tackling 4 pain points:
Duplicate images were distributed across all Milestone products.
Users had to manually crop each image to fit different devices.
There was no provision for users to tag or include alt text with images to comply with ADA standards.
Users lacked information about the quality of their images.

Design
Exploring AI Tagging Concepts
Manual image tagging was a huge pain point. To address this, I proposed an AI-based system that automates the tagging process. I explored two approaches:
Concept 1: All in One Tagging
Users can conveniently add tags in the same location where the AI tags are located.
Concept 2: Separate Tagging
Users can reorganize the AI tags and user-added tags into separate sections.
Concept 2 was the Clear Winner
In a test with 8 users, separate tags (concept 2) outperformed the all-in-one tagging system (concept 1). Users were unaware they could add their own tags in (concept 1).

Discovery
The competitive landscape - AI being The Game Changer
Existing asset managers were manual, requiring users to handle most tasks. I thought Milestone could do it better by having AI do all these tasks for the user.
Competitors fell into two buckets; Cloud Storage and Digital Asset Management platforms. My goal was to make this as easy to use as a Cloud storage platform with all the capabilities of a DAM.

The final concept
I built out the final concept, and shipped it with a team of 6 engineers! I focused on streamlining the workflow with AI handling the heavy lifting.

Getting user feedback after launch
After launching our Digital Asset Management (DAM) system, I developed a roadmap for future improvements. This included 3 features:
Users wanted to be able to move folders and files for better Organization
Users wanted to be able to favorite images and folders to quickly find them, especially if they have a large number of files and folders to manage
Users wanted to be able to comment on photos to enable collaboration and conversation. Comments would allow users to have discussions about specific photos.
